She previously served as Chief of Staff to Pelosi from 2003-2011, then worked in the nonprofit and advocacy sectors, including as Executive Director of the Tory Burch Foundation (supporting women entrepreneurs), Director of the Clinton Foundation's No Ceilings project, and at organizations including NARAL Pro-Choice America and Anna Deavere Smith's Institute on the Arts and Civic Dialogue. Known for her commitment to getting more women into positions of power and influence in government.
