Legislative Director for U.S. Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY-12) since 2022, overseeing the member's legislative agenda and priorities. A California native, he began his congressional career in the office of Congresswoman Doris Matsui, working his way from Staff Assistant to Legislative Correspondent to Legislative Assistant. He joined Rep. Nadler's office in 2019, initially working on Transportation and Infrastructure issues. As a key member of Nadler's senior staff, Heineman was instrumental in helping pass the Respect for Marriage Act, which enshrined marriage equality into law. He previously served as an organizer on the Obama for President campaign.
